On the occasion of state formation day celebrations, the State govt has taken a filmy route to strike a chord with the youth. ‘Salaam Telangana’ a short film, photography competition and themes related to Telangana culture and history will be held at the State Gallery of Art here from June 2 to 7.
The film festival and competition are organized by the Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture, and is inviting youths aged between 18 and 30 years from Telangana to participate in this six days festival. Besides screening films and conducting a photo exhibition, cash awards will be given to the winners of the competition in various categories.
Besides holding a short film and photography competition, a retrospective of directors Shyam Benegal and B Narsing Rao films will be held during the festival. Movies of directors hailing from Telangana N Shankar and Allani Sreedhar will also be screened during the six-day long festival.
“Films are a popular media today by which youth are highly influenced. Therefore films are a perfect way to give an insight on Telangana culture, identity and struggles. Also there are lot of talented youngsters in Telangana and this festival will give them an opportunity to showcase and prove their talent,” said Hyderabad district youth welfare officer Motilal.
