TS to be drought-free with Maha pact: Jagadish

Hyderabad: With the Maharashtra Government coming forward to join hands with the TRS Government, the long-pending irrigation projects will see a solution and will be completed soon to make Telangana free from chronic drought problem.
Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy told the media at Telangana Bhavan that an agreement to be reached by the two chief ministers will keep the region away from drought and drinking water problem on a permanent basis. He termed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as statesman, who could convince his Maharashtra counterapart Devendra Fadnavis on the controversial irrigation projects finding solution now. These projects will pave way for a drought-free Telangana as irrigation projects will be completed to supply waters to riparian States of Telangana and Maharashtra which ultimately turning dream into a reality.
He claimed that persistent statehood fight was for the water, resources and jobs and the mission of KCR is getting accomplished now as Fadnavis invited him for an agreement, an elated Jagadish Reddy stated. The six decade long problem of irrigation projects will soon be fructified and on completion will cater to the riparian needs of both the state he stated. KCR a visionary had been successful in unfolding the knots of the projects and intricacy that left behind by the previous governments due to inefficient policies, dump the region and lack of vision, the minster maintained.
However, turning vocal at the previous governments for deliberate attempts to ignore the plight of Telangana, Jagadish Reddy reprimanded Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for claiming to be a statesman as he only worsened the problem through his Babli fight. The previous governments could not prevent 40 other projects came up he said. Unlike other chief ministers, only KCR took initiative for a friendly discussion in a cordial atmosphere to help resolve the pending issues to the core he said.
KCR will sign the pact with Fadnavis in Maharashtra on March 8 and will remain an ideal chief minister to others in the country, Reddy said. The Chief Minister recently released Rs 300 crore to tide over drinking water problem. The pact to be made by the two chief ministers will help complete Medigadda, Rajapet, Chanaka-Korata, Penpahad, Thummidihatti projects. He said that the ruling party will go ahead with its policies to complete the irrigation projects. The TRS Government was determined to spend adequate funds to witness a paradigm shift in the face of agriculture, irrigation to route out poverty in some pockets he said. (NSS)
