Hyderabad: Discoms are mulling the introduction of pre-paid electricity meters that would let consumers set limits on the lines of prepaid mobile bills. A decision in this regard would be taken once TS Trasnco CMD Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao returns from his overseas trip during the month of November.
Installing pre-paid meters would mean purchasing power from the energy department, depending on the consumption pattern of the consumer. The pre-paid system is available for government offices. The Discoms now want to extend the same to domestic power connections. If consumers come forward voluntarily, Discoms would award a concession of 0.10 paise per unit.
