TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah today observed that the first budget of the TRS Government miserably failed to address the aspirations of the people.
Talking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Lakshmaiah alleged that the TRS, which was on hyping spree, presented the most discouraging budget. The maiden budget presented by Finance Minister Etela Rajender shows a financial deficit of 4.8 per cent, he said. He sought to know how the State government can bring additional funds from the Centre when its monetary shortage posted at 4.8 per cent? Any government is supposed to focus on urgent needs and cater to the basic needs, but KCR was trying to deceive people with mesmerizing words and promises that cannot be implemented.
The TPCC chief alleged that the budget has added to the woes of martyrs’ families as the budget did not mention it. Ponnala also found fault with the government for failing to give any funds to Muslim Community for Moharram Festival despite its previous promise of Rs 15 crore. Had the government kept its crop loans promise, the farmers would not have continued to end their lives, he opined. The government could not make sufficient allocations to key sectors like agriculture, irrigation, education, health and others, he charged. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao despite his repeated promises did not keep the crop loan waiver to full extent, Ponnala said. He also took exception to the government for 20 per cent of crop loan waiver which is not sufficient. (NSS)
