Hyderabad: Based on the results of the Greater Hyderabad Municipality Corporation (GHMC) elections, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is claiming that it has sufficient support in certain parts of Hyderabad apart from the Old City. Citing the results, MIM is reportedly urging Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) to leave three more Assembly seats.
According to the report published in The Hans India, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, MIM Chief had met Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, Municipal Administration Minister and has sought three more TS Assembly seats. These seats are Jubilee Hills, Amberpet and Rajendranagar.
It may be mentioned that MIM had either won or got success in securing the second position in GHMC polls in most of the division of these constituencies.
It may be noted that in 2014 Assembly Elections, MIM candidate from Jubilee Hills stood second whereas the party candidate from Rajendranagar secured more than 49 thousand votes. In Amberpet, the party candidate got a good number of votes. The party had managed to win seven Assembly seats in Telangana.
In such a scenario, TRS may leave three more TS Assembly seats for MIM. Earlier too, responding to MIM’s request, the ruling party had left Jambagh seat in GHMC elections. The TRS had not put pressure on recounting.
At a recent media interaction, responding to a question on the aim of MIM, Mr. Rama Rao said that there is nothing wrong if a party plans for expansion.
