Hyderabad: Electronic Voting Machines which are to be used in Telangana Assembly Elections will not only have the name of the candidate, party symbol but also his/her photograph.
For the first time, Election Commission of India has decided to introduce this system in all the five states where Assembly Elections are scheduled to be held in November/ December this year.
In accordance with these instructions, candidates have been requested to furnish their postal stamp size photograph along with the nomination papers to the concerned Returning Officer.
The voting machines will depict party symbol, name and photo of the candidates. This system has been introduced to eradicate any irregularities in voting system. It will also repose confidence among the voters. All the other rules and regulations of voting remain unchanged. The names of the candidates will be depicted on the screen of the EVM according to the alphabetical order.
It may be mentioned that Telangana Assembly is going for polls on 7th December 2018 in all the 119 Assembly constituencies.
