NEW DELHI: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Center denies ticket to trusted ‘Chowkidar’ Shahnawaz Hussain.
The party’s national spokesperson and former Union Minister lost marginally from Bhagalpur during 2014 Lok Sabha poll was denied ticket this time.
Shahnawaz, the party’s Muslim face is the most loyal Chowkidar throughout his entire political career despite being almost sidelined even though many losers of the party like Arun Jaitley and Smriti Irani were given the portfolio of cabinet minister.

After PM Modi and party chief Amit Shah prefix the word ‘Chowkidar’ on social media, several BJP leaders including Hussain had also added the word to their name, but all in vain.

My party has always kept faith in me & previously given me tickets in 6 Lok Sabha Elections. I may not be contesting elections this time but will put in all my efforts to once again make @narendramodi ji the PM of our great nation.”

I will not be contesting from Bhagalpur this time. As part of NDA alliance in Bihar, Nitish Kumar's JDU has taken my seat along with seats of 6 sitting MPs of BJP.

Bihar‘s ruling NDA on Saturday announced candidates for 39 out of the total 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The BJP has also dropped actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha from his Patna Sahib seat and instead fielded Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in his place.
