Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s statement seeking ban on all Muslims from entering the US is disgusting, a top South-Asian-origin aide of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton said today.
“I’m a proud Muslim — but you don’t have to share my faith to share my disgust,” Huma Abedin, a top aide to Clinton said in an email in response to the statement made by Trump that there is a need to ban all Muslims from entering the US. “Trump wants to literally write racism into our law books. His Islamophobia doesn’t reflect our nation’s values — it goes far enough to damage our country’s reputation and could even threaten our national security,” said Abedin whose father is from India and mother from Pakistan.
“Unfortunately, Trump is leaning into the kind of fear of progress that very well could help him win the nomination. We have to be ready to stop him,” she said.
In multiple interviews, Trump reiterated what he said in a statement yesterday.
“I have no doubt that we have no choice but to do exactly what I said until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on. Because we have a problem in this country. You look at Paris. You look at the carnage that took place in Paris,” Trump told CNN.
“People quickly forget World Trade Center one, World Trade Center No 2. And you take a look at all of the things that are happening, having to do with the problems. Now you have the problem in California where — and miraculously USD 28,000 just found, just put into this guy’s account, this horrible person, this killer, this maniac, into his account,” he said.
Trump was referring to the thousands of dollars being transferred to the account of male terrorist, two weeks before he went on a shooting rampage.
