Washington D.C.: United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited the victims of the Parkland, Florida mass shooting Friday night, immediately after his arrival in Florida.
Speaking to reporters at Broward Health North Hospital, the President praised the “incredible” work of doctors, nurses and first responders who helped victims after the shooting, CBS News reported.
The President further said that he met with victims, adding that it was “very sad that something like that could happen.”
Trump is expected to meet with law enforcement at the Broward County Sheriff’s office later Friday.
On Thursday, Trump called on all United States embassies, public buildings, military facilities, diplomatic sites, naval vessels, consular offices, other facilities abroad to fly their flags at half-staff through Monday.
19-year-old Nikolas Cruz gunned down at least 17 people on Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He was a former student and was expelled from the school for disciplinary reasons.
Cruz has been booked on 17 counts of premeditated murder. (ANI)
