Trump to deliver major speech on immigration

Washington: Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the upcoming US Presidential elections will give a long-awaited speech on illegal immigration on Wednesday, after postponing it several times.

“I will be making a major speech on illegal immigration on Wednesday in the great state of Arizona. Big crowds, looking for a larger venue,” Trump said on his Twitter account on Sunday evening.

There is speculation in the country as to whether Trump, as it has appeared at times this week, was willing to tone down his hard proposals on migration policies in order to attract Hispanic voters, who largely favour his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, EFE news reported.

The big question was whether the property magnate will confirm in the speech that he will officially retract his plan to use a “deportation force” to expel the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who live in the US.

In the final stage of his campaign, the New York billionaire is seeking to win the votes of African-American and Hispanic voters, two key constituencies with which Clinton claims a wide lead in the polls.

Thus, Trump will soon campaign in Hispanic and African-American communities.

“We’re planning on additional events in communities of colour. We’re trying to really see the best in these communities and leverage it in terms of continuing success and listening to their concerns, but also their success stories,” Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said on Sunday.
