Nellore, May 12: In a shocking incident, a RTC bus driver was murdered by a lorry driver at Vedayapallem centre here in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to police, at around 2.15 a.m, a RTC bus was going to Madera in Khammam from Tirupati, when a lorry from Chennai going towards Vijayawada, hit the bus from behind.
Immediately, the bus driver M Durga Rao, parked the bus at the side of the road and went to confront the lorry driver, who had parked his vehicle near the Nallapareddy Srinivasulu Reddy statue in the area.
A heated argument ensued between the duo, when suddenly the lorry driver started his vehicle and ran over the bus driver. The trucker, left Durga Rao dying in a pool of blood and sped away. The passengers and other people in the area, who were watching the heated exchange between the both, were left in shock at the ghastly incident. On receiving the information, Nellore City chief inspector, CI Veeranjaneya Reddy rushed to the spot. Durga Rao was rushed to the DSR Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been registered and search is on for the absconding trucker.
