Truck falls into DJB’s pit; narrow escape for two

New Delhi, May 09: Two persons had a narrow escape when a goods carrier they were travelling in fell into a 30-foot pit allegedly dug up by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in northeast Delhi today.

According to police, at around 3 am, the truck laden with milk and milk products, fell into a manhole stated to be dug-up by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in the Shahdara area.

“The truck was on its way from Hapur to a dairy in Delhi’s Durgapuri area when it fell into the ditch near the Loni roundabout,” a senior police official said.

It took two fire tenders and a crane for more than two hours to pull out the driver and helper from the debris.
