TRS will be buried in potholes of Hyderabad roads: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused the TRS Government of completely neglecting the development of Hyderabad during the last four years.

He was addressing hundreds of activists from Musheerabad Assembly segment who joined the Congress party on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan under the leadership of ex-PRP leader P. V. Ashok Kumar. Former PCC President and AICC Secretary V. Hanumantha Rao and other senior leaders were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that except making tall claims and fake promises, TRS Government did nothing for Hyderabad. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao remained confined to super-luxurious Pragathi Bhavan and did not bother to even check the availability of basic amenities for residents of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao’s main focus was allegedly on getting commissions from contractors for various projects. “KTR appears to have accumulated so much of illicit wealth that it turned him arrogant. The level of KTR’s arrogance has now reached to a level that he is now making insane statements,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the existing public infrastructure in Hyderabad was created by previous Congress regimes. Projects like drinking water from Godavari and Krishna Rivers for Hyderabad, Metro Rail, International Airport, Express Highway and Outer Ring Road were all conceived, approved and executed during Congress rule. “TRS Govt could not even maintain what Congress created in the past. KCR regime has even failed to fill the potholes on city roads. People of Hyderabad will bury the TRS in the same potholes in next elections,” he said while predicting that the Congress party would completely sweep the elections in entire Greater Hyderabad.

The TPCC President said that the Congress party would grow stronger in the city due to the joining of Ashok Kumar.

Uttam meets Oommen Chandy

Uttam Kumar Reddy called on former Chief Minister of Kerela and AICC Incharge General Secretary for AP Oommen Chandy at Dilkusha Guest House on Sunday morning. The two leaders had a brief discussion on various issues, especially the present political situation in Telangana. They also exchanged views on steps to be taken to strengthen the party to win next elections.

The TPCC chief briefed Oommen Chandy on how KCR came to power by making lucrative promises of three acres land for Dalits, 12% quota for STs and Muslims, double bed room houses, KG to PG free education, etc., However, KCR failed to deliver anything and instead, unleashed an era of suppression by intimidating and harassing everyone who criticised his government. Legislators and MPs of opposition parties were lured with money or posts and all democratic norms were violated. Even Legislative Assembly was not run as per rules. Two MLAs of Congress party were expelled from the House on filmsy grounds and remaining members were suspended for the entire budget session. Showing utter disrespect for the judiciary, TRS Government refused to implement the order of High Court which revoked expulsion of Congress legislators, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress has played the role of an effective and responsible opposition and appropriately raised all public issues. He hoped that the party was most likely to win the next elections.

Appreciating the functioning of Uttam Kumar Reddy, Oommen Chandy said that the party has high hopes on him. He said a sizeable number of people hailing from Kerela and other States were settled in Hyderabad. He asked the TPCC Chief to take measures to bring those people closer to the Congress party.
