TRS will bag GHMC Mayor post: KTR

IT & Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Ramarao today said elections to GHMC could be held in third week of next month.

Speaking to mediapersons at Secretariat here on Friday, KTR said the ruling party will win the Mayor’s post and all seats in the GHMC elections. Stating that a special manifesto was being prepared for the GHMC elections, KTR exuded confidence that all “settlers” in the metropolitan city will vote in favour of the ruling party.

The minister said they would release the special manifesto for GHMC after obtaining permission from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. A special campaign titled “Get out-Let vote” will be conducted, he said, adding that plan was on cards to rope in cinema stars, sportsmen and other prominent people to increase polling percentage and create awareness among the voters.

Reacting to Election Commission serving notices on Chief Minister KCR and himself, KTR said it was common to have doubts on the electoral code of conduct and we will clarify. He exuded confidence that the TRS will win majority of the seats and will contest independently. Five surveys conducted by the TRS on the GHMC polls revealed that they would win the electoral battle, he added. The voter awareness programs would be organised through the Election Commission, Information & Public Relations Department, he added. (NSS)
