TRS violence continues in Telangana

Hyderabad, December 07: Telangana appears to be spinning out of control with hundreds of Telangana Rashtriya Samiti activists Monday resorting to violence in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

Hundreds of agitated TRS supporters resorted to stone pelting outside the Osmania University in Hyderabad while raising slogans for a separate Telangana state.

In a bid to control the agitated TRS supporters, police had to resort to mild lathicharge.

A group of violent TRS supporters also blocked the movement of trains in Karimnagar district.

In another incident, expressing solidarity with the TRS’ campaign for Telangana, nearly 90,000 workers boycotted the operations in various coal mines located in the Karimnagar district.

The shutdown called by the TRS today entered its second day even as its chief K Chandrasekar Rao continued his fast-unto-death pressing for a separate Telangana state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah yesterday paid a visit to TRS chief in hospital last night and asked him to end his fast-unto-death, which has entered its third week.

Rao said he was firm about his demand for a separate Telangana state and indicated that only an assurance from the Prime Minister could change his decision.

There are reports that the Assembly session scheduled to start next week, may also be cut short due to the ongoing protests.

The state has been put on high alert due to the shutdown.

Also, three legislators- TRS’ Harish Rao, E Rajender and BJP floor leader in the Assembly G Kishan Reddy were taken into custody along with a MLC when they arrived in the campus here, where more than 500 students launched a relay hunger strike in support of a separate Telangana state.
