TRS threatens to intensify agitation over power crisis

Telangana Rashtra Samithi Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao on Wednesday demanded that the State Government review power supply between the Discoms.

Talking to media persons at Bollaram Police station after his arrest at Vidyut Soudha, where the TRS activists staged a massive protest against government failure to supply seven hours of power to farmers, Harish Rao expressed concern over the continuous widening of the demand and supply gap between the Discoms. Demanding that the government honour its promise made to farmers, he said that the farmers should get quality power at any cost. He warned that the TRS would intensify its agitation if Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy fails to supply power for seven hours to farmers as they were facing piquant situation and lost heavily due to withering of crop.

Stating that AIADMK ruled Tamil Nadu has sufficient power, he wondered that though the Congress was in power both at the Centre and State, our State has been facing power crisis due to inefficient management of resources.

Demanding that the government establish four thermal power plants to tide over the power crisis in Telangana region, he said that the Chief Minister should make efforts to get more power from the Central power grid by establishing a corridor. Apart from this, he asked the government to supply LNG to gas based power plants at Sankarapalli and Nedunuru.

Meanwhile, the Telangana political joint Action Committee members met Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy demanding release of MLAs Harish Rao, Etela Rajender and other MLAs and activists. The JAC members termed the arrest of their leaders as illegal and demanded immediate release of them without any conditions.
