TRS threatens of a Gujjar-like agitation for Telangana

Hyderabad, August 09: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao threatened of a ‘Gujjar-type’ agitation for separate Telangana after the Srikrishna Committee submits its report by December.

“All sections of Telangana are getting ready for the war after December. Revenue department employees met me recently. They said they will take part in the fight for Telangana. They are waiting for our call. Everybody is feeling that it is time to start a Gujjar-type agitation,” he said at the party’s executive committee meeting here.

The TRS president has been saying that there will be a “major war” for Telangana after December. TRS would organise a convention at Warangal in December with 10 lakh students participating in it, he said.

According to him, the Congress government is not concerned about people in Telangana who are facing problems like swine flu and unavailability of fertilisers and seeds.

Alleging that irrigation projects in Telangana are neglected by successive governments, he demanded that the state government release Rs 300 crore for maintenance of Sri am Sagar Project, the life line of Warangal and other districts in Telangana.

Describing TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s agitation on Babhli issue as a drama, Rao asked why the former chief minister never raised the issue of neglect of other irrigation projects in Telangana region.
