TRS threatenes stir over GO 135

Hyderabad, October 17: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi Legislature Party (TRSLP) has appealed to the government to withdraw GO 135 which permits independednt power producers to sell 20 per cent of the power they generate on the open market.

Addressing a press conference here today, TRSLP leader E Rajendar said it was unfortunate that when the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regularity Commission (APERC) was conducting a public hearing on the GO, Chief Minister K Rosaiah should say that the government was not ready to withdraw the GO which only showed the APERC in poor light.

The party alleged that APERC was conducting the hearing on the government’s decision only for name sake without allowing the political parties and the common man to take part in the public hearing.

With the latest GO, private power producers would benefit to the tune of nearly Rs 1,500 crore, he said and threatened to launch ana gitation if the order was not withdrawn.

He urged the government to take up the Rajolibanda water diversion scheme in view of the backwardness of Mahaboonagar district.
