TRS to support Naidu’s candidature for VP’s post: Party MP

Hyderabad: The ruling TRS in Telangana would support the candidature of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for the vice president’s post, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar said today.

“CM (TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) told us to support. He asked us to go and sign on the papers,” Vinod Kumar told PTI when asked for the party’s stance.

A release from the chief minister’s office said Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Rao and sought his support for Naidu’s candidature.

Modi telephoned Rao, informed him about the decision of Naidu’s candidature and sought support, it said.

BJP President Amit Shah tonight announced Naidu’s candidature for the vice president’s post after a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Board, BJP’s highest decision-making body.
