Hyderabad, September 25: After delivering a mortal blow to the Telugu Desam Party in the recent byelections in Telangana districts, the TRS now seems to be busy with attempts to further weaken the yellow brigade in Telangana.
Even as TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao continues his vitriolic speeches against Chandrababu Naidu, his cohorts organised attacks on Naidu’s convoy recently while it was on its way to Mahaboobnagar district.
The spirited attack on Chandrababu Naidu is serving Rao too since it helps divert the attention of the people of Telangana from the controversy he landed himself in by praising Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and subscribing to the theory that all those who are born in Telangana could be considered Telangana natives.
Chandrababu Naidu’s twoeye policy has given him the handle that he was looking to hit at Naidu. Now it is an eye for an eye war between the TRS and the TDP. The TRS leadership claims that Naidu’s twoeye philosophy bared his true colours. “How can he subscribe to the two ideas which are contradictory unless he wants to cheat both Andhras and Telanganites simultaneously?” TRS leaders ask.
Rao is using this reasoning to woo the TDP cadres into the TRS and thus weaken Naidu organisationally in Telangana districts where the yellow party is known to have a very strong cadre network.
Now Naidu’s comment that Chandrasekhar Rao is daydreaming about Telangana has come as yet another weapon for Rao to attack Naidu. At Nalgonda, Rao said Naidu had unwittingly let his Telangana veneer slip by saying that Telangana state was a daydream.
No wonder Rao’s incisive argument that Naidu was antiTelangana had set the Telangana youths, particularly the TRS cadres, against him. TRS activists are now preparing to attack the TDP chief if he ventures into Telangana hinterland once again. They issued statements to this effect too.
The TRS leadership is of the view that the TDP will be wiped out soon in the region.
After the drubbing in the byelections, several secondrung leaders of the TDP had migrated to the TRS. Even some top leaders are in touch with Rao and are ready to leave the TDP anytime.
The TRS leadership claims that all the top leaders of the TDP in the Telangana region are in touch with them and the Telangana TDP will cease to exist very soon.
