Hyderabad: Now, the strength of the ruling TRS is poised to increase, as some of the Independents are likely to join it. As a beginning, Korakanti Chander, who successfully contested the election from Ramagundam constituency as an Independent, today announced his support to the TRS party. With this, the strength of the TRS has risen to 89 from 88. It may be mentioned here that when Chander was denied ticket by the party, he contested the election on Forward Bloc ticket, and defeated the official TRS candidate Somarapu Satyanarayana.
Speaking to media persons here today, Chander said the TRS was his parent institution and he would work under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao and will continue as TRS MLA. Chander did not resign from the TRS when he was denied ticket and remained as party member. In the previous Assembly election also, Chander had contested as rebel candidate against Somarapu Satyanarayana and was defeated by a slender majority.
