TRS to stage dharna today

Hyderabad, October 28: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) will stage a dharna in front of the Secretariat entrance here on Wednesday as part of its ‘jail bharo’ programme. The protest is being tipped as the launch pad for the ‘final battle’ to achieve statehood for Telangana.

Party leaders and activists would gather at Indira Park and reach Secretariat in a procession to stage the protest, party president K. Chadrashekar Rao stated at a press conference here on Tuesday. He asked the party activists and sympathisers not to break law while staging protests in the district headquarters, revenue divisional headquarters and towns in the region. He particularly asked the youth and student wings of the party not to get provoked or get emotional during the protests and follow democratic methods. Further, he told the party men to spare emergency services like hospitals and not to disturb public life.

The party would try to tell the State and the country about the necessity of statehood for Telangana through ‘jail bharo’ and there was no need for party men to get emotional as he had already announced fast-unto-death as the last resort to achieve their goal. “I am prepared to sacrifice myself for the cause,” he reiterated.

Responding to solidarity expressed by Telangana Udyoga Sanghala Joint Action Committee with the protest, he suggested them not to violate law, but protest in their offices democratically.
