Hyderabad, September 09: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday sought the support of Muslim community to intensify the movement for achieving statehood for Telangana region.
Speaking after a releasing the Urdu poster about the general strike starting from September 13, TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao appreciated the support that the Telangana movement has been getting from the minorities, especially the Muslims. He said active participation of Muslim community in the movement would mount pressure on both the Central and State Government to grant statehood for Telangana region.
Regarding the Bansawada by-polls, the TRS MLA said that both the Congress and TDP were afraid of contesting the by-election fearing public anger due to their dual stand on Telangana. That is the reason why they are proposing boycott of by-elections till Telangana is achieved. He challenged both the Congress and TDP leaders to win the seat if they were really honest about Telangana.
Tarakarama Rao was sure that Pocharam Srinivas, who vacated the seat after quitting the Telugu Desam Party, would be re-elected as the TRS candidate. He said efforts were on to ensure that Pocharam gets elected unopposed.
