TRS seeks Congress support for unanimous election of Padma Rao

Hyderabad: The ruling party has begun efforts to ensure unanimous election of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. The party sought support of the main Opposition Congress on the issue and urged it to extend support for unanimous election of the deputy speaker.

Working president of the TRS today met with TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at the CLP office on Saturday and spoke with the two Congress leaders. During the meeting, KTR reportedly told the Congress leaders that other political parties in the House like the AIMIM and BJP have already extended their support to TRS candidate T. Padma Rao Goud for the deputy speaker’s post and requested them to also extend Congress support on the issue.

The issue of MLC elections under MLA quota also came up for discussion during the meeting. The TPCC president and CLP Leader have urged KTR to extend support and ensure victory of Congress party unopposed in the MLC. They told KTR that they had adequate number of members to win one seat in the elections.
