Hyderabad, January 12: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi senior leader and former MP, Mr Vinod Kumar, on Wednesday said that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the State lost the majority with 23 legislators of the ruling party defecting to the former Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s camp. Under the circumstances, the Leader of Opposition, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, has miserably failed to demand the Chief Minister to prove his majority on the floor of the House.
Reacting to the news that 23 legislators of the ruling party had participated in the “Jala Deeksha” undertaken by Mr Jagan in New Delhi on Tuesday, the TRS leader said that according to the reports in the print and electronic media, it was proved beyond doubt that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has lost the majority. The Congress MLAs participating in the “Jala Deeksha” undertaken by Mr Jagan inspite of warnings from the Congress high command proved that the KKR government was in minority, he said and demanded that the Telugu Desam party supremo, in his capacity as the Leader of Opposition should demand the Chief Minister to prove his majority in a trial of strength on the floor of the House.
The former MP said that he was not able to understand as to why the Leader of Opposition remained tightlipped. He also demanded that Mr Naidu, who enjoys Cabinet rank status in his capacity as Leader of Opposition, had unquestionable right to ask the Chief Minister to prove his majority on the floor of the House.
The TRS leader also condemned the allegation that his party supremo, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, has kept mum on the Telangana issue after the Centre-sponsored Justice B N Srikrishna Committee report was made public. Denying that Mr KCR was not keeping silent on the issue, Mr Vinod Kumar said that the former has given sufficient time to the Centre to study the report and act on it.
