TRS readies new strategy for T-stir

Hyderabad, December 27: The Kiran Kumar Reddy government seems to be in for trouble from within the Congress as well as from the TRS and Telangana political JAC leaders.

With ample indication that Srikrishna Committee report will only spell out the pros and cons of both separate Telangana and united Andhra Pradesh scenarios, the TRS and T-political JAC on Sunday decided to launch agitations in three stages __ start, stir and reach to the peak.

Speaking to media after a nearly seven-hour-long JAC meeting, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said the agitational programme would begin with submitting memoranda to all tehsildars in the Telangana districts on January 5 demanding that the Centre introduce a bill in the budget session of Parliament.

On January 10, the TRS and JAC members will hold dharnas in front of district collectorates. On the same day, KCR will lead a delegation of pro-T parties to New Delhi and submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Telangana non-gazetted officers will also launch a pen-down strike from January 15.

This would be followed by a `stir-up’ programme__ the launch of a non-cooperation movement from January 21. It would be marked by relay hunger strikes at government offices, colleges and court premises in all the districts till the Centre introduces a bill in Parliament. Rail and road roko will be part of this non-cooperation movement.

Rao cautioned the T organisations and activists that this time they need to move ahead with a clear and cautious strategy. “We should struggle and sacrifice our lives to the cause. We should confuse the enemy. We should not get confused in the process”, he added.

KCR warned chief minister N Kiran Kumar and DGP K Aravinda Rao that deploying police battalions would not suppress their struggle. “There will be no violence in the movement. But don’t try to test our patience,” he said.

Urging Congress MPs and MLAs of Telangana to join the movement, KCR ridiculed the proposed hunger strike by Telangana Congress leaders from Monday.
