TRS poser to Centre on K-G gas allocation

Hyderabad, August 08: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and former member of Parliament B Vinod Kumar today demanded that the Central Government announce how much gas from the 6-D unit of Krishna-Godavari Basin it was ready to allocate to Andhra Pradesh.

If the Central Government was not ready to allot sufficient quota, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy should lead an all-party delegation to put pressure on the Centre to get sufficient gas to meet the State’s needs, he told reporters here today.

He said the State Government should also clarify how much gas it was planning to allocate to the backward Telangana region. Expressing doubts on Union Petroleum Minister Murali Deora’s statement in the Rajya Sabha yesterday that Andhra Pradesh would get its share of the KG Basin gas, the TRS leader sought more clarifications on the matter.

Vinod Kumar urged the chief minister to reconsider the establishment of a coal-based 2,100 MW power project in Karimnagar as against its earlier proposal to set up a gas-based power plant.
