Two leaders of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee, who were part of the recent protests against the government’s proposal to acquire OU lands, gone missing after allegedly been threatened by a TRS legislator.
It is said that Anjanna and Bhasker had played an important role in organising a Dhoom Dham protest on the OU campus a few days back. This allegedly enraged the TRS MLA.
According to police, Daruvu Anjanna of Jeedimetla and Durgam Bhasker of OU campus went missing on Tuesday following alleged threats from the MLA. A group of OUJAC students lodged a complaint with the OU police and alleged that there might be TRS leaders hand in kidnapping Bhasker.
Anjanna’s wife Sunitha lodged a complaint with the Jeedimetla police stating that her husband had gone missing. “Anjanna received a threatening call from a TRS leader. He left home saying he would return but did not turn up,” she said. Hours later, Anjanna approached the police.
The police promised to look into the complaints. Police suspect Bhasker might also have gone underground fearing for his life.
