TRS meet shifted to Mahaboobnagar

Hyderabad, April 20: With Union defence ministry denying permission to the TRS to hold its 10th anniversary public meeting at the Parade Grounds on April 27, the venue has been shifted to Mahaboobnagar and the event was converted into a party delegates’ session.

According to TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, though the Hyderabad police accorded permission, there was no green signal from the defence ministry. It has now been decided to hold a meeting of 23,000 party delegates where the future course of action on Telangana movement would be decided.

Speaking to newsmen here on Monday, Rao slammed the Congress for denying permission. “When I spoke to defence minister AK Antony, he said it has been decided not to allow political meetings at the Parade Grounds. But the real reason is that the Congress is jealous of the growing political clout of the TRS.”

The TRS chief demanded withdrawal of GO 177 laying down guidelines for punishment to the government employees who take part in agitation. “The issue of the GO is dictatorial. Why keep it in abeyance? It should be withdrawn forthwith,” he said, adding that if the government drags its feet, he would have to go on indefinite hunger strike.

On the comments he made on Andhra Brahmins, the TRS chief said he had no disrespect for them. “I conducted yagas under the supervision of Telangana and Andhra Brahmins. I felt Telangana Brahmins were more sincere.
