TRS leaders held for protest at Bus Bhavan

Hyderabad, September 22: Tension prevailed at the Bus Bhavan at VST when the police resorted to arrest Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLA T Harish Rao, senior leader Nayani Narsimha reddy and Congress MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy.

The leaders were arrested when they tried to barge into Bus Bhavan premises protesting against the RTC management’s decision to sack about 1300 contract drivers and conductors for participating in the general strike of employees. The police foiled their attempts and took them into custody.

Condemning the sacking of employees, Harish Rao demanded that the RTC management immediately withdraw orders and take them to their duties. He asked the Seemandhra drivers and conductors to support the Telangana agitation or face serious consequences.

Harish Rao alleged that the RTC was running the buses with untrained drivers posing a threat to the lives of commuters and other road-users. He held the government responsible for death of Mallesh, an auto rickshaw driver who was killed in Yousufguda due to failure of breaks by RTC bus.

The TRS leaders were later shifted to Dabeerpura police station in the Old City.
