TRS Govt not serious on Palamuru-RR project: Aruna

Congress MLA D.K. Aruna on Monday alleged that the TRS Government was not serious on construction of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Aruna said that the Palamuru Ranga Reddy project was initiated by the previous Congress Government and it had also completed its survey. The project cost was estimated at about Rs. 10,000 crore. However, the TRS Government conducted a fresh survey just to escalate the cost to Rs. 40,000 crore. She alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his ministers want to extort maximum commission in the name of the project and they have been trying hard to make it controversial.

Ridiculing the Chief Minister’s promise of providing irrigation facilities for 1 crore acres of land, Aruna said that the TRS Government was unwilling to spend a few hundred crores to complete the pending projects. She said the completion of projects like Kalwakurthy, Nettampadu and Koyalsagar would irrigate about 6 lakh acres of land. However, the TRS Government was not releasing funds to complete them.

Aruna said that the Congress party was not against the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation or any other project. However, she said instead of focusing on successful execution of projects, the TRS Government was concentrating on collection of commissions from contractors. She demanded that all the pending projects of Mahabubnagar district be completed on immediate basis. (INN)
