TRS Govt failed in women’s empowerment: Mahila Congress

All India Mahila Congress President and MP Sushmita Dev has alleged that the TRS Government has failed to take measures for the empowerment of women in Telangana State.

Addressing a meeting organised by TPCC Mahila Congress at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, Sushmita Dev alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashhekhar Rao did not promote any other women leader in his party or government to give undue importance to his daughter and Nizamabbad MP K. Kavitha. She said except Kavitha, no other women benefitted from the formation of Telangana State. She said women constitute nearly 50% of total population in Telangana. However, they remained backward in all sectors due to the negligence of TRS Government.

TPCC Mahila Congress president Nerella Sharada, in her speech, said that there was no space for women under TRS rule. She said Telangana was the only major State with no woman in cabinet. She said Ministers T. Harish Rao and K. Tarakarama Rao were taking the place of women in events. She said it was highly shameful that when women leaders from all across the world gathered in Hyderabad to participate in Global Economic Summit, Telangana Government had no woman representative and KTR participated in an ‘all women’ seminar.

Sharada said that only Congress party could ensure empowerment for women. (INN)
