TRS Govt avoiding debate on drought situation: Congress

The Congress Legislature Party has accused the TRS Government of avoiding debates on key issues concerning common people.

Speaking to reporters at Assembly Media Point, Deputy CLP leader T. Jeevan Reddy said that except Hyderabad, all nine remaining districts of Telangana State have been facing severe drought conditions. However, the State Government did not provide any assistance to the drought-hit areas. Despite declaring 231 out of 450 mandals as drought-hit, no financial help was extended to those mandals. He said only Rs. 56 crore were sanctioned for drinking water and the amount was yet to be released.

Jeevan Reddy said that there was no water for cattle in drought-hit areas. Despite so much of severity, the TRS Government was not willing to have a detailed debate on the subject. He accused Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and other ministers of misleading the House on the issue. (INN)
