TRS demands special funds for Gulf workers

TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to allocate Rs 500 crore in the State Budget-2012-13 to rescue the Gulf victims.

Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, he said that lakhs of people from the State, particularly from North Telangana, were going to Gulf countries for livelihood but were facing problems due to lack of employment. Many people died and their families were living in penury, he said and urged the government to take steps for rehabilitating them by establishing a special fund.

Expressing disappointment over allocating Rs One crore in the state budget for the victims of Gulf, he urged the government to liberally increase the funds for their rehabilitation. He also appealed to the government to appoint a special department on the lines of other states to look into the problems being faced by people working in Gulf countries.
