Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao on Thursday demanded that the State Government release Rs 500 monthly pension for the victims of the fluoride-affected Nalgonda district.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar at the Assembly Hall, Tarakarama Rao said that the condition of fluoride affected citizens was pathetic and the government has to support them financially by announcing a monthly pension of Rs 500 to each victim. He also demanded that the government appoint 500 nodal officers in the affected villages to take steps to supply the clean and safe drinking water.
The TRS leader demanded that the Central government set up a national laboratory in Nalgonda district to test the percentage of flouride in the water and to contain the problem. He also appealed to the government to complete the Sriram Sagar Project to solve the drinking water needs of Telangana districts. (INN)
