TRS leader T Harish Rao has requested the State Government to extend a helping hand to the farmers who were affected by the heavy rains and floods, raising above regional considerations.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Harish Rao demanded that immediate assistance should be provided to the affected farmers in Telangana region. He said that in Nalgonda district alone, crops in 4,000 acres were destroyed by the floods.
Harish Rao also lashed out at the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for squandering several crores of rupees for Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations. Faulting Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for allocating Rs 45 crores for such celebrations, Harish Rao questioned the wisdom of the government to splurge such a huge amount when the people all over the State were facing numerous problems on account of natural calamities.
Alleging that the State government had allocated hundreds of crores of rupees to the JWT Ad agency since Kiran Kumar Reddy was installed as chief minister, the TRS leader said facts would come out if the Governor inquired into the deal between the Ad agency and brother of the Chief Minister. .
POCHARAM’S PLEA
In Adilabad, TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has demanded the Government to go to the rescue of the Telangana farmers who were hit by the floods. He took the Government to task for adopting a step-motherly attitude towards the farmers of Telangana region. He found fault with the Chief Minister’s statement that compensation would be paid to the crops not affected by the floods also in Coastal Andhra. He said it was atrocious that the Chief Minister had not visited the flood-hit areas in Telangana region. (NSS)
