The Telangana Rashtra Samithi will declare its candidate for by-elections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat on Friday.
Chief Minister and TRS President K. Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday held a meeting with senior ministers and party leaders from Warangal district to discuss the selection of candidate. He gathered views of different leaders on the issue. Later, a unanimous resolution was passed authorising KCR to finalise the candidate.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Ministers T. Harish Rao and Ajmeera Chandulal and other senior leaders.
Speaking to media persons later, Kadiyam said that candidate’s name would be announced on Friday. He said that the Chief Minister was in favour of nominating a local candidate who played an active role in Telangana movement.
According to sources, G. Ravi is the top contender for the TRS ticket. KCR personally spoke to all the aspirants and told them that they should abide by his final decision. He wants a candidate who could speak Telugu, Hindi and English with equal fluency. (INN)
