TRS chief refuses to talk to emissaries

Hyderabad, December 03: Earlier in the day the State Government Wednesday decided to send ministers from Telangana region as emissaries to urge TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to call off his fast unto death. However Rao reportedly declined the offer stating that the State ministers from Telangana region have no powers to take a decision on the issue.

The ministers from Telangana region Wednesday convened a meeting in the view of the ongoing agitation across the State. Except for Major Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah and Civil Supplies Minister J Krishna Rao, all the ministers participated in the meeting and discussed the strategy to be adopted to deal with the situation.

Speaking to mediapersons, Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy stated that Labour Minister Ramreddy Venkat Reddy on behalf of the State Government, will negotiate with Chandrasekhar Rao on the issue. Chief Minister K Rosaiah also gave his consent for the efforts made by the ministers from Telangana region, she said. The Home Minister reiterated that the decision over formation of separate Telangana is in the hands of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. She said the health condition of Chandrasekhar Rao is stable but could deteriorate unless he called off the hunger strike.
