TRS to celebrate 10th anniversary on April 27

Hyderabad, April 04: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi is planning to celebrate its 10th annivesrary in a big way by organising a massive public meeting at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on April 27.

The party is keen to ensure a turnout of about 10 lakh people at the event where its chief K Chandrasekhara Rao is expected to announce his next phase of agitational programme for Telangana.

The TRS executive committee is meeting on April 6 to discuss arrangements for the public meeting. It will also discuss organisational matters and ways of attracting cadre from other political parties.

Chandrasekhar Rao has spoken with defence minister AK Antony seeking permission to use the ground for the public meeting and forwarded a formal application to the ministry. The ministry, while according the permission, advised the TRS to approach the police for necessary permission.

“We will get the police permission in the next two days,” a TRS leader said. Yet, there are apprehensions whether the police would give them permission in the wake of the violence that broke out during the Million March on the Tank Bund on March 10. In case the police deny them the permission, the TRS will organise similar rallies at all the district headquarters.

The party plans to utilise the anniversary celebrations to show its strength to the government and thus bring pressure on it to deliver Telangana as early as possible.

The TRS chief is planning to perform Chandi Yagam at a public place in the city on April 15 and party leaders are searching for a suitable venue. In 2009 Rao performed Viswa Santi Homam at the place where Telangana Bhavan, the party’s headquarters, stands now. Nearly 100 Vedic scholars performed the ritual then.

With negative signals coming from the Centre on Telangana, the TRS chief wants to invoke divine blessings for his cause.
