Tension prevailed during the foundation stone laying ceremony of ESI Hospital at Seetharambagh on Saturday when several TRS activists raised slogans against the organisers for not inviting ruling party’s leaders for the event.
Immediately after the end of inaugural ceremony, TRS workers, led by M. Prakash, tried to gherao Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya while accusing the BJP of turning the event into party function. They raised slogans like ‘Jai Telangana’ and ‘KCR Zindabad’ and condemned the organisers for inviting former BJP MLAs while ignoring the ruling TRS leaders.
They also criticised the organisers for not installing the picture of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at the venue. The TRS workers did not listen to the appeals for calm made by Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, who were present on the dais.
Tension escalated when the BJP workers, who were present in large numbers, raised counter-slogans. The situation turned normal only after the intervention of police. (INN)
