Hyderabad, September 25: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday accused the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of discriminating the farmers of Telangana region in imposing power cuts that got necessitated due to the on-going Sakala Janula Samme or the general strike.
Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, MLA T Harish Rao demanded that the State Government release a white paper on supply of power to Seemandhra and Telangana regions during the last three days. He alleged the power cuts were being imposed only for Telangana farmers and they have been left to their own fate.
The TRS MLA said that the Chief Minister was intentionally victimising the Telangana farmers by introducing more power cuts in the region compared to Seemandhra. He said while only two hour power cuts were imposed in Seemandhra, in Telangana the government has been imposing power cuts for more than four hours. “The cuts are being imposed by creating artificial scarcity of power and the Chief Minister was indirectly trying to damage the crops,” he said. “If there was real shortage of power in the state, then the Chief Minister must have imposed power cuts for the industries too.”
Though the Hydel power projects in the state are brimming with water, he alleged that the Chief Minister was not directing the officials to utilize the resources for generating additional power and doing injustice to farmers in the state by supplying six hour power. Demanding seven hour power supply to farmers, he demanded that the Chief Minister stop discriminating farmers of the region. He said that he was ready to end his life if the government proves that there was no water in the Hydel projects.
The TRS leader slammed the Telangana ministers for not questioning the discrimination in supply of power to Telangana region. He warned that the government would be held responsible for crop damage due to inadequate power supply. He threatened to picket Vidyut Soudha if the government fails to take remedial measures in this regard.
