TRS activists tried to obstruct the YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma when she was proceeding to Sirpur Kagaz Nagar. Activists of the party and other Telangana agitators tried to stop Vijayamma at Vempalli and were arrested by the police.
Vijayamma was proceeding to the project site of Pranahita – Chevella, with the demand that it should be declared as a national project. Her charge is that the present government ignored the project for which her late husband Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone. She anointed the foundation stone with milk. She was accompanied by the party senior leader Konda Surekha, who once again become active after briefly distancing herself from the party.
Vijayamma arrived from Hyderabad by AP Express. Telangana activists tried to stop her at the Sirpur Paper mills when she was proceeding by road. It may be mentioned here that TRS and other Telangana activists had already warned that they would not allow Vijayamma or other YSR Congress leaders unless they make their stand on Telangana clear.(NSS)
