TRS accuses Speaker of being partial to T Bill

TRS Deputy Floor Leader T Harish Rao on Friday alleged that Speaker Nadendla Manohar was not functioning impartially and deliberately adjourning the House frequently to avoid debate on the draft Telangana Bill.
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Harish said Nadendla Manohar was violating the Constitution and President by repeatedly adjourning the House to bar a debate on Draft Telangana Bill. He reminded that the President of India has referred the Bill to the State Assembly. The people of the State were bowing their heads with shame on seeing the arrogant behavior of the Seemandhra legislators in the House.
Coming down heavily on Nadendla Manohar, Rao reminded that the latter had suspended the TRS legislators from the House on the second day when they stalled the proceedings demanding a resolution supporting formation of separate Telangana State. He also questioned why the Speaker was not suspending Seemandhra MLAs even though they have been continuously disturbing the House in the last nine days. He demanded that the Speaker act impartially while dealing with the draft Telangana bill.
Stating that the tradition of adjournments was not healthy, the TRS legislator urged the Speaker to prove his impartiality by suspending the cacophonous Seemandhra members from the House and initiate debate on the draft Telangana Bill. Otherwise, the RS legislators would stage dharna at his chamber, he warned. He also said that nobody can stop introduction of draft Telangana Bill in Parliament in the first week of February.
Harish Rao said they would air their views and opinions in writing to the Speaker if the present situation continued in the House even after Monday. He pointed out that there was a practice in the Lok Sabha to record the opinions of the members, which were given in writing form also.
Reminding that the TDP has supported the yesterday’s Seemandhra Bandh for united Andhra Pradesh, Harish Rao pointed out that Seemandhra TDP members today displayed placards of united Andhra Pradesh. He demanded that TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to reveal whether his party changed its stand on formation of separate Telangana State. (NSS)
