Hyderabad, September 19: The Osmania University campus once again has turned in to a fireball when the police obstructed the TRSV members rally towards Secretariat on Monday extending support to the ongoing Sakalajanula Samme.
The TRS students have taken up ‘Chalo Secretariat’ program from Arts College and the rally proceeded towards NCC gate. Coming to know about the rally, police officials deployed huge force at the NCC gate to disrupt the rally. As usual the police obstructed the students rally at NCC gate. The students requested the police to allow them to proceed peacefully, but their pleas went in vain. The request turned into verbal fight and there was jostling between the police and the students. The police chased the students towards the University and the irate students resorted to stone pelting, raising slogans of ‘Police go back’, ‘Jai Telangana’.
As the students hurled stones at the police, the latter lobbed teargas shells to disperse the students. The students then changed their route and proceeded towards Jamai Osmania. The police foiled the students’ attempt there also.
A number of students were injured severely when the police resorted to lathi-charge, barging into the Nizam College Hostel rooms here on Monday.
The Nizam College Hostel students have tried to organize a rally to extend support to the Professors’ Deeksha as part of the Sakalajanula Samme. But the police have not allowed them to organize the rally and obstructed them at the entrance of the Hostel itself. The irate students resorted to stone pelting at the police and damaged the vehicles parked on the road near the Hostel. About 50 police personnel wielding lathis, under the leadership of Central Zone DCP Mr Akun Sabarwal, entered the hostel and closed the main door. Later they entered into the rooms and resorted to severe lathi-charge. The police have not left the students who tried to hide in the toilets and bathrooms.
Later the police arrested the students and shifted them to the police station.
Coming to know of the incident, the Telangana Nagara Convener Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy rushed to the Nizam College Hostel along with another leader Mr K Harishwar Reddy.
