Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, after the declaration of Tripura Assembly polls result, called the win ‘historical’. The CM who also holds the position of ‘mahant’ (chief) of the Gorakshnath Peeth at Gorakhpur had extensively campaigned in the Northeastern state, which is not more than 300 km far from Gorakhpur.
Adityanath had spoken to about seven election meetings along with holding two road shows, asking for votes from Tripura people, a report of Deccan Herald quotes. Adityanath had reportedly campaigned in 20 of the 59 assembly constituencies in the state. As per a BJP leader, the party had won 17 out of the 20 constituencies.
The temple that is headed by the UP CM also serves as a headquarter for the followers of ‘Nath’ monastic group, which comprises of a considerable number of people. The BJP leader further said that Adityanath was able to get support from the ‘Nath’ group.
The CM on Saturday had made a prediction saying the election results of Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya would be historic.

“The BJP is all set for a historic win in Tripura, I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Modi, party president Amit Shah Ji and our party workers. Even our performance in Nagaland and Meghalaya is going to be historic. An important day in Indian politics,” he had told media.
This is not the first time, that Adityanath had campaigned outside his home state, he had also campaigned for the saffron party for the assembly polls in Gujarat last year.
