It may be mentioned that AIMPLB has rejected the Triple Talaq Bill after terming it anti-women. In the month of December 2017, AIMPLB held an emergency meeting at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. After the meeting, it also sent a letter to PM.

The Board is against the bill as it criminalizes instant Triple Talaq. It said that after Supreme Court’s judgment, instant triple talaq became invalid. Board also objected to various other provisions of the bill including three years imprisonment, wife’s maintenance when the husband is in jail and the provision to register a case on the complaint of the third party.

It may be mentioned that earlier, protests were held in various cities of the country including Rajasthan’s Sikar, Pune etc. On Sunday, the protest was also held in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.
