New Delhi: Three persons who allegedly kidnapped a businessman’s 15-year-old son and demanded Rs 15 lakh for the boy’s safe release, have been arrested.
The accused identified as Sumit Singh Grover (26), Ankit Bhalla (25) and Ashish Vashist (25) were looking for a random victim and targeted prominent schools in south Delhi, said a senior police official.
According to the police, when the boy was returning home after school yesterday, one of the accused pretended to be an accident victim stuck inside his car and sought the teen’s help to unlock the vehicle.
When the teenager approached the car, the other accused shoved him inside the vehicle and threatened him with a knife, they said, adding that the accused called up the boy’s mother and demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.
The matter was reported to the police and a trap was laid.
After negotiating the ransom amount, the businessman agreed to meet the accused trio at a village in Ghaziabad around 11 pm, police said.
When the culprits came to receive the money, a police team arrested them, they added.
