Haldia (WB), November 09: Trinamool Congress MP Shubhendu Adhikari and five other party activists sustained minor injuries in stone pelting allegedly by CPI(M) workers during a TC demonstration in front of Haldia police station in East Midnapore district.
Superintendent of Police Bastab Baidya said some people pelted stones at the demonstrators and fled, adding, six persons including Adhikari, MP of Tamluk, suffered minor injuries.
While others were administered first aid at the local hospital and released, Adhikari did not go to hospital, the SP said adding no one was arrested.
Adhikari’s father and union minister Sisir Adhikari said his son was attended by a private physician.
Alleging that the stone pelting was done by CPI(M) activists, Sisir Adhikari said the party would bring out protest rallies in the district tomorrow.
