Kolkata, August 06: Even as the UPA government plans to table the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill in the current session of Parliament ending on August 7, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who has opposed the move, is reportedly working out a formula that will put the Bill in the cold storage until the 2011 Assembly polls in West Bengal.
“What we expect is that the Bill will go to the Select Committee where it will stay for two years. By that time Assembly polls will be over in Bengal. Assembly elections are our prime target since we have a good chance to oust the CPM,” said a senior Trinamool MP.
