Trinamool helping Maoists in WB : Yechury

Kolkata, Novemeber 27: Echoing senior party colleague Basudeb Acharya, CPI (M) Politburo member Sitaram yechury tonight said the Trinamool Congress was helping Maoists in West Bengal.

“The Trinamool is itself using CPI (Maoists) for its narrow political gain to upstage the ruling party,” Yechury told reporters at the city airport on arrival for a party programme.

Blaming the Trinamool for the spread in Maoists’ influence in certain pockets of the state, Yechury said the party was thus setting a dangerous precedent.

In a dig at Trinamool’s coalition partner Congress at the Centre, Yechury said “what should the Congress say now about it’s ally helping the Naxalites.”

Hours before Yechury’s comments, CPI(M) MP Basudeb Acharya told “I will highlight in Parliament on December seven that the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists are hand-in-glove.”

Left MPs, he said, have decided to meet the Prime Minister after his return from abroad.
